My parents think I'm going to be leaving in a month to go back to college but I've been suspended and I don't know how to break it to them...

My dad is a doctor and he has all this expectations from me...I've always tried so hard to live up to them but I can't.

See with my mom, she'll just get mad at me and that I can take. But I can't deal with disappointment... especially from the only person who's ever beleived in me...

I'm reaching a breaking point. I don't know what to do and my time is running out...

I'm really sorry sweetheart. I know how you feel, though. I haven't been suspended from college or anything, but I've sort of failed my parents too. My dad is this successful engineer and has expected so much of me, and I've fallen so short of all of them. So I know how you feel.

I don't know exactly what to tell you, except what I'd do... and I'd just say something like, "I'm more disappointed and mad at myself than you can possibly be, but I'm still sorry for disappointing you. The only thing I can say is that I'm going to do everything I can in the next year and the year after that." It's only a year suspension and after that you can go back to the school, right? So you're only set back a year. Remind them of that. And if you can, in the year you're not going to your university go to a community school. It'll still earn you credits and you can transfer them to the school you're going to when you go back. That might please your parents at least a little. Maybe not. I don't know. I just really hope this works out for you. I'm sorry it happened in the first place, but it did, and I'm sure it'll work out in the end. Everything always does. In the very end, everything always works out.

Hope this helps.

Until you decide to take responsibility for your actions or non-actions, things are not going to change no matter what community college you attend (or not). You seem like you want to be catered to because of your health issues. You can only use that excuse so many times, before you wear your teachers out. Since this is not high school or public education that is free, your professors most likely wonder why you even bother with college if you cannot handle it physically or mentally. Why two jobs? You can barely handle life itself. Your immaturity and sensitivity issues are wreaking havoc in the learning process. So, if I were your parent, I would tell you to quit fooling yourself. You have no interest in learning. In fact, you have little interest in anything but your problems. Apparently you get a lot of attention from your weaknesses or you would do something about them. Yes, panic attacks are dreadful, but not deadly. And your other ailments can be dealt with, but it takes a positive attitude. I am not going to feel sorry for you one bit. You want play off your health conditions so you can basically sit back and do nothing. Making excuses is a lousy pastime. If you really want HELP, then work hard at eliminating all of your excuses why you can't accomplish anything. You are going to have to learn to HELP yourself instead of leading others on to believe you actually want to do something with your life. Tough love.

i never knew you could get suspended from college, say word.

well first things first dont wait till the last minute like denise did on the cosby show when she told her parents she wasnt going back to college the day she was suppose to leave

sit them both down and explain to them what happened. you said your dad will be really disappointed in you, i think the disappointment would be the reason as to why you got suspended and not the fact that youre not returning to school this semester.

You could bring them the head of Skinhead Charlie. lol. Seriously just sit down and have a heart to heart with them. If you intend to get back into school once your suspensions up let them know that. Make sure they realize you're going to keep trying. Also, be up front with your dad about how his expectations are stressing you. A lot of times parents don't even know they've set such high standards until you tell them. They're your parents and they'll always love you and that's what's important.

Well your really making it worse by putting it off. Your moving into adulthood and your still acting like a child.....I understand how you feel and I am not saying it is going to be easy. If you keep putting it off it gets worse. Tonight you need to approach them and tell them what is going on. Then ask them for some patience and understanding. Tell them you have made some mistakes and you want to learn from them and still get an education. Tell them tonight. It will be a big relief. Your going to be fine, at least from what I gather about you is that you have a good heart. You care about how your dad feels.....now go tell them.

Oh my gosh. What in the world did you do, babe?!

But the thing is, you have to break the news to them ASAP. It cannot go on any longer than this and like you have acknowledged it yourself, time is running out.

I know it is difficult for you to tell them face-to-face so why don't you write them a letter? You can do this and it is for the better. Your parents could help you out.

Best wishes.

Well it depends on what exactly you did to get suspended. The best way to do it, is just to do it. Tell them in person and try to explain your self the best you can before one or both explode. They will get mad but at least they will acknowledge the fact that you were honest.

try to already have another plan in place when you tell them, like some classes at community college, a job, something like that to show them you are still working towards your future. that might not take all the heat off you, but it certainly might help buffer it some. good luck to you, so sorry you have to go through this! it really will pass and get better though :)

just tell them the truth. i've learned in the past that even if you lie, the truth will come out eventually. just tell them that you took so long to tell them because you were trying to think of the best way to tell them. maybe they can get you into a different school, and you could vow to do it right this time. good luck

Be honest with them and tell them...there is no point in keeping it a secret/trying to hide it, something tells me they are finaniacially helping you, so if you were to decieve them they will be even more upset. Honesty is a good quality/charecteristic of a person
