Bin Laden is still alive, Al-Quida is up to pre-911 strength, the Iraq war is not going well, America is isolated, billions have been spent and thousands are dead and wounded.

How did we end up like this and is there any accountability for these results?

I totally agree with you and I think that all of that is true. However, I think that the more pressing issue is how do we change it now? May I suggest that we write to our elected officials. Demand action. If they didn't support a troop withdraw, force them with our voices to come up with an alternative exit strategy. If they did support troop a withdraw, compel them to continue to work on a solution that is feasible to both sides.

We need to face the fact that, whether or not we like them, they work for us. Its our duty to manage them.

Let's leave accountability for the future: on our ballots and in the history books.

To end right, you have to start right. The Bush administration started wrong...they were even told they were wrong, yet, believing their own propaganda the went ahead with their wrong-headed plan and sure enough....the pooch got screwed....and the US population is the 'pooch'! If someone could find evidence of illegality the entire Bush Junta would go down in flames. That probably will never happen. The one good thing these guys are good at is hiding the bodies, the smoking gun and the truth. Eventually this bunch of reactionary retards will be sent home and 'we the people' will have to deal with the results of the Bush and Company's madness. There's no telling how this will come out....all I know is that the dead and maimed are piling up with no movement toward making our country safer. Too bad...it didn't have to be this way!

You haven't been paying attention.
1) Bin Laden is a sick puppy hiding in caves.
2) Al-Qaeda is only up to strength because all the other groups have been pounded into rubble and are fleeing to join the well publicized group, and falling into the biggest fly trap ever created. It's called round up and brand 'em time!
3) The Iraq war was over a long time ago. We won. Saddam died.
We are now fighting a battle in the War on Terrorism there. This is not a war anyone can win, any more than you can win against disease. The alternative is give up and die. Not me. Feel free.
4) America isolated? Have you seen how many of even Islamic countries are pounding on the terrorists? You really haven't been paying attention!
5) Billions spent now, how many would be lost without it? That's what this is about. Trillions or more saved for an investment now. Worth it.
6) Less casualties during this war than during President Clinton's two terms! Less than any other war! 6 to 1 ratio of dead with them getting the worst of it! Less civilian casualties caused by us than any other war!

I agree, there should be accountability. Americans! President Bush! All military and patriots!

GREAT JOB!

Because going to war with Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism at large. It was about WMD's that never existed. When the word got out that there weren't any WMD's, Bush & CO. tried to sell that "war on terror" crap to us.

Iraq was never about the war on terror, it's about greed and THAT is what happened.

It was never a war on terror to begin with.

well to be fair if you want accountability and think the war is wrong then all the congressmen/women should be acccountable. I had family over there not long ago and these guys believe this is a not just a war in Iraq but a world wide war against Islamo Fascists who with all their hearts want to kill me and you. War is hell but living without freedom would be worse, if they allowed us to live. Terrorists need to be stopped and it would be better forus if it is stopped over there.

You're right, let's just give up and let the Islamic extremists have their way with us along with the rest of the western societies in the world. That's a great plan.

I'm glad you're not running for president.

Get out of la la land and deal with reality. What did you expect, everything going perfectly. The good thing is road side car bombs aren't being blown up on your street or mine. Be happy we haven't been attacked like 9/11.

That's what your handlers over at KOs are saying for you to repeat.

Everything is fine, The Surge is working, and we're goin' for touchdown pretty soon.

Al Qaeda isn't bombing us in the US. They'll be doing it under Hillary. Wait and see.
