I asked a question about starting a GSA at my school a few days ago. I got a lot of good responces, but now I have another question. I think it is never too early to start doing research and working on stuff, but what would I need to have at the beginning?

I just made a "report" I guess about important dates to the LGBT community to give out to the people who join. I also made a flyer to advertise and some club bylaws. I do think the bylaws should be discussed before they become permanent, but I think I have a good foundation for people to work with. (I stole it off the internet, lol) I also want to go to a graphic designer and purchase a large thing, don't know what to call it, to affix to my table to advertise the GSA during lunch so people can join.

Another question, do you think I am doing too much work for something that might not even exist?

Hmm, I think you -might- be getting ahead of yourself, but, whenever you decide to go talk to the administrator for this idea, you can say you have all these ideas laid out and just about everything set-up and I think it would have a better chance of being set-up. The graphics thing might be jumping the gun, but I'm glad you can feel involved in this. Just remember baby steps :)

My school has a GSA, hopefully I'll be joining this year, I dunno how well it does, I wish i could give advice on what it does...

a female i'm pals with began a GSA at our college, and that i think of of she had to get approval from the college board and the thought of our college. and that i don't know the way your county or state works, yet on a similar time as she had to start it, the college board took a vote on no count extensive kind if to have it or not, and there grew to grow to be a amassing with team and parents on their concerns in process it. so it is counseled to start asking a trusted instructor approximately it rapidly and get information. good success.

I did that at my high school, and am in the process of reestablishing a chapter of Lambda Legal at my current law school. I suggest you get lots of information on different possibilities. Partner up with your local GLBT groups, like P-FLAGG. I think you will be amazed with the results. :)
