The NY Times is disgusting - period.
I guess they figure they can make up for callously and maliciously printing the locations of the leaked United States' terrorist internment camps in other countries by showing some discretion by not printing the end of a fictional novel.
I'm glad their circulation numbers are in the crash and burn mode - they've earned it.

Not at all. Ethically (as well as legally) printing the Potter matieral is wrong.

But there are times when leaked government documents need to be printed--in order to blow the whistle on government wrongdoing. That is their duty--their patriotic duty--as citizens and as journalists.

Two completely different situations.

No odder that President Bush leaking classified information. Oh, but I forget, he can classify and declassify at his whim. Pretty convenient.

Well, that's because no democrat or republican congressmen have asked them not to print it. Oh, and printing it wouldn't affect national security.

They would print our military plans if they could get a few thousand troops killed... from what I see.
