It has happened! And it's embarrassing, WHY do we do that!

no but i pick up accents (unintentionally) over a short period of time. 1 month usually. during the holidays i pick up an american accent by watching american comedies and soaps. then at school i pick up a brit accent (actually more scottish) cuz its a brit school. with my family on a holiday in another country, i lapse into asian (pakistani/indian, its my natural accent so its a lot faster to fall into) cuz thats how my family (excluding my brothers) speak.

My friend has this problem though. once this really scot teacher scolded him and he replied sorry accidentaly in the teachers accent ( pronounced 'soe-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ae'). lol it was funny.

i actually do do it SOMETIMES. but not to an extent that the accented person notices or gets offended.

Yes, I did that when I met an Irish guy once. Not as bad as the ex-boyfriend who use to speak louder as if because they had an accent they were unable to hear. God that made me laugh!

Yes, but only because it was a French speaker and I know how to do a French accent as I speak it myself.

I do that! It was a lot more common when I was younger. I have this friend from Singapore and she had a strong Mandarin accent when we were kids (it's completely gone now) and I used to immitate it when I spoke with her. I didn't realize what I was doing until my mom told me.

No way. I grew up around southerners, a few Brits, and a lady from the Bahamas. If I'd done that, someone would have slapped me.

Not really, when I worked with a bunch of Tamils. I sounded like a freshy more times than not. What the f uck buddy, that's the garbage people. I wasn't mimicking their accent, more their use of English.
