Sometimes the government has to protect people from themselves. I'm sure there are a great deal of National Security incidents that you and I will never hear about. That's probably for the better. Nothing is more pathetic looking than panicked Americans.
Of course, on the other hand, sometimes they just hide crap to cover their butts. Like most working Americans, they screw up occasionally, and rather than face the music they try and sweep it under the rug. What they need to understand is they don't sit in a cubicle at ABC MegaCorp. They're elected officials paid by tax dollars and they are 100% accountable to the American public 100% of the time.

I.F. Stone once said that "....all governments lie and you can't believe a damned thing they say!" I suspect he was right. That's why we're supposed to have a free press. Back in the day when I was polishing verbs for a darn good newspaper our motto was "....What they conceal, we reveal!" Now the 'media' is either bone lazy, co-opted, incompetent, bought off or scared to death to get in trouble with the 'man'! Let's be real....the so-called 'news' sucks. Unless you really track this stuff down it's just not there. Publications that publish the good stuff are marginalized and the reactionaries pounce all over anyone who tries to tell you that the king has no clothes. The short answer to your question is yes....the Bush Junta is not telling you anything resembling the truth. Why? Because they've staged a coup d' etat and think that people won't notice the ooz leaking out under the door to the Oval Office. It's sickening, and that IS the truth!

THIS Government? Tell the Truth? Of course not - its not in their nature and its certainly not how they got elected. I think the easier question would be what are the NOT hiding from us. This would be a much easier list to compile. The more our liberties and rights are destroyed the more powerful this government is becoming.

I am trying to figure out why you would ask such a question you must be young and not know any better. The U.S. government is the most decietful organization in the world. Even though it tries to act like someone else is hiding something.

Mr. Bush's entire administration and all of his appointees have lied from day 1. Truth is a stranger to those people.
What are they hiding? Everything.
By the time the "Presidential papers" are released 40-50 years from now, no one will be around to remember it..or not many anyhow.
My comfort is twofold; first, our country is strong and our people are independent and determined. We will survive these criminals and rebuild out beloved home.
Second, Mr. Bush will leave the legacy of being the worst, most corrupt and dishonest President in our history.

This administration is ******* us in the *** and all the way around.
They are making a ******* fortune and we sit by and let them do it.
We take it in the *** and we get brainwashed by family values and crap like that and they (GOp) turn around and stick it to us.
They increased taxes on the middle class.
They went to war for Halliburton, Mcdoneel douglas,all defense contractors.
How do you think Boeing got proftiable again? it was the war.
This war was about one thing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

They are not telling the truth.
They are hiding national secrets essential to our security.
All patriotic people do. Only those who wish to hurt our country want us to reveal everything publicly in a world full of people looking to hurt us.
Only suicidal people would think it must be conspiracy.
