I agree! My mom thinks just because I watch TV and some characters are mildly like that, I'll automatically turn into somebody like that. Sheesh. I hate that about her.

I guess it's because those are the teenagers we see the most. I always hated stereotyping, and I have a 16 year old son who is responsible, mature, handsome, makes great grades, and has big plans on where he wants to go to college. He's never gotten in major trouble. But after you've almost been hit by a teenager driving while talking on a cell phone 15 or 20 times, you get pretty unreasonable.

That's true. When something happens that involves a teenager, most adults would blame us as a whole. For example, if there was a car accident that involved a teenager, adults would say something like how teenagers are so reckless and careless. But when its an adult who was involved in a car accident, they wouldn't blame adults as a whole.

I am starting to learn how to drive and I've only gotten about 20 hours so far and I make fewer mistakes than my mom, but when I make an mistake even a small one, my mom goes balistic and says how I shouldn't even be driving. On the otherhand, she does illegal moves too on purpose (make illegal u-turns, doesn't stop completely at stop signs, etc.) and isn't that recklessness and carelessness too?

I'm an adult and have six grandchildren. I have no clue who you mean when you say

"Why do adults blame ALL teenagers and pre-teens for the bad stuff that only SOME teens do???? "

that's putting all adults into a catagory. I don't blame "teenagers for anything". If someone does something I don't like, I don't blame teenagers, old people, middle age people......I blame the individual.

I don't think all teenagers are the same. There are a lot of decent, smart, mature kids out there, and automatically people will think of the bad stereotypes, but all kids are unique and individual. You have to keep in mind that there are also adults that act like children, and that might actually be worse. I just think it's bad to see childish people at any age.

its a cute question
many an adult has teens, and many are dont blame all teens for what some of them do.
yet it is easier to blame than to take responsibility, when adults dont lead, its easier to try and judge others for our own failures.
make it real
feeling good about yourself helps you feel good about others and see the best in them

Truth is many are willing to give up their future for the fun of the "There is pleasure in sin for a season, but then cometh the judgement." When we believe a lie so we can throw away the truth we get problems
"In marriage the bed is undefiled, but the others will be judged." Hebrews 13 also in that chapter once you let Jesus into your heart to save you from sin and be your friend "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."

You got to decide if your worth a true love first from above, or continuing the life you are choosing.

peace in Jesus care and prayer John 3 asked forgiveness of sins and Jesus to come into my heart to be my best friend, David
when we point at others 3 fingers are pointing back at ourself, young people tend to be irresponsible-why cause they are growing up-yet its the grown ups job to help them, and to praise the ones that are doing right & encourage them too.

As a Dad I can tell you that we don't blame you,but we want to know if your able to to be trusted or not. I don't know your home life but I am sure that your parents care and are only looking out for your best interest. I am always checking on my daughter. But that don't mean we blame you teens. And you have to look at it from our point of view most not all bit bust teens don't think before they act, therefore they are stupid.

I agree! I mean, even on Y!A they blame us ALL. Its like asking for a violation notice if you post your age...Adults think that all trolls are teens. No doubt a few of them...but I bet more are adults. There were actually MORE trolls before summer, so I'm sick of hearing "ever since summer break, we've been seeing alot of trouble".

My dad thinks I'm some sort of horrible person, but I dont even do anything! I know for a fact when he was my age he was drinking and doing drugs...so I dont think he has room to talk. But hes always telling be to straighten up, I dont do ANYTHING.

Oh, btw, I dont have a cell...just thought I'd add that.

They say that because the few teens they see ARE wearing or doing those things, so they assume everyone else probably is too.

Adults make a lot of assumptions they shoudnt, but dont be mad at all the adults, cause there are some who do exactly the same thing....and its very disgusting.

I SO AGREE WITH YOU!!! It's completely unfair (this is coming from a 13 year old, you're not alone- check out my question on P&S about evil reporters. . .) I hate abercrombie (half because i can't afford it, half because it's girly and i'm a tom boy.) Some of us have parents that care about us and say we're not allowed to wear make-up because we're too young. And I agree because after all, Mom and Dad DO know best. . . I still haven't gone on a date and there's 5th graders dating in my town!!!

PS- I'm backing you up on this one because I know you're going to be chewed out by some stuck-up people. . .

It's just a stereotype. It's easier to say that all teens do it instead of saying that memorized percentage of teens that actually do that stuff. Don't freak out about it. You can be yourself...and be the one teenager, along with me, that doesn't do stuff like that. Just be glad that people like you and I are above the influence. Be happy that we're not actual victims of what the stereotype says.
