I was in a pet store today in north carolina, and this is what they told me but they could not give me a reason.

Turtles can spread salmonella & other diseases, I live in Missouri.

I live in North Carolina and I don't see why turtules would be illegal to sell in North Carolina. I guess it may depend on the type of turtle or something. If a pet store has pets in it, then they can be bought!! Why would a pet store have a turtle in it that they can't sell? It doesn't make sense to me. I think that the pet store owner didn't wan't you to buy the turtle or something.

They carry salmonella. I think its only the little turtles that are illegal. I heard that the little ones have more salmonella and kids tend to pick them up more. All turtles carry salmonella so you need to wash you hands after handling.

Some species of tutrles are in the endangered
list and selling
them are a violation. However, there are still some states
that allow sale of turtles not listed in this category.

well i heard they eat them and there afraid that people might be selling them for high prices and keep selling them until there engaged and the extinct

i don't know the specific reasons, but i heard it can spread some soft of disease from the dirty it makes. idk ?? and why ncalifornia lol i wish i knew
