i'm thinking of the michael vick situation but am wondering if it is customary in the business world, for example, to be suspended from your job if you've been indited of a crime? or do you have to be found guilty of the crime? what other nfl'ers have been suspended for crimes they've committed or been accused of committing??

It is very common, depending on your employer, to be suspended, either with or without pay if you are arrested, or indicted, or arraigned for a crime.
If found guilty, you can be fired from your job.... depending on your employer.
If you have an employment contract, read it. If you have a book of company policies, read it and see if that situation is covered.

It depends on how public the crime you are charged with is. A high profile case will automaticly get you called into the boss's office. The management of any company wants to keep a good public image. If they can disassocitate themselves from bad publicity, they will.

I imagine, that the managemnet will ask for a resignation with an offer for employment again once the person is found not guilty.
