Can someone tell me the spieces of this snake?

Question

I walked outside tonight and there was this snake that i almost stepped on and it was long jet black and had yellow rings aroung his body. i live in Middle Georgia. please tell me what it is so i can look it up i have dogs and a little sister so iu want to be safe about it

Oh also the snake was very slender and was mostley black with small yellow bands and its nose is balck

It's definitely a King Snake. VERY good species to have around. The kill and eat lots of the poisonous ones

Totally harmless to pets and people. A people-friendly species.

It sounds like an Eastern King Snake.They are non - venomous snakes,and in fact will eat other snakes,includign venoumous ones,so that is a good snake to have around,and I would just leave it alone.Your sister is in no danger from it. Here is the link to a picture of one.Is this the snake?

Eastern King snake I think hope these links work we live in KY had a snake similar to that don't think there venomous.

It possibly is a poisonous snake. If u ask me I think it is a Water Macasin. They r very poisonous.
