I know it sounds weird, but it hurt really bad.. what happened?

This was probably stomach acid that came up with the air from the burp.The acid burned your esophagus and felt like a sharp object.

Perhaps a little bit of stomach acid came up with your burp. The acid could have burned your throat, causing the "sharp" sensation. Generally, this will pass after a day or so, but if this continues frequently you should see a doctor.

Acid Reflux!! It's your stomach acid. Did you know that your stomach acid is so strong that it could burn a whole in your skin? Only the enzymes which are lining your stomach can tolerate the acid. Food is digested because of the stomach acid! It's pretty amazing how it all works. But you just burped hard. You might have eaten something that caused it. But, its normal. If the acid reflux comes often go to the doctor!!!

Was it a fish bone? I got a fish bone caught in my throat once, but I vomited it up. ^ ^
