i went to the dr. today and when i got home after she checked me, i had chunks of brownish/dark blood which i assume was the mucous membrane. later in the day though i started bleeding bright red blood like you would get from a scrape. it has stopped, but now i am having these sharp burning pains in my lower left abdomen and i keep throwing up. anyone have any clue as to what might be the case?

Get to the hospital dear!
I don't know what it is, but any sort of bleeding should be looked at.
I'm 38 weeks too. I wouldn't be taking any chances this far along. Any sort of blood means somethings up. Might be just your mucous plug coming out, and you're probably dilating..but didn't they check you to see how many cms??
Go back to the hospital now. Take your bag. You'll have your baby in your arms shortly.

You should go to the ER - pain and vomiting along with blood are generally not encouraging signs. Simplest case, you could be starting labor, or else the placenta could be seperating prematurely which isn't so simple, or anything, really. At least CALL the hospital and see what they recommend.

it sounds like labor is ready to come. It could be any tiem now. Many women will get sick , but call yoru doc because those pains dont sound good. The bleeding could have been from the doc checking you. It sounds liek spottiong which is normal, but it definately sounds liek labor is just about here.

I would call your OB right away. There should be someone on call that you can speak to about this. If thats not a possibility then I would go to the ER. ANY type of sharp pain durring pregnancy is something to be checked out about. Whether its at the beginning, middle, or end of your term.

call the OBGYN. I had the blood after being checked and gave birth 3 hrs later. The blood just suddenly came about an hour after i left the hospital (was checked due to preterm labor and 4 cm dialated).

Call your OBGYN. It's probably just a reaction to her messing around in there but if you're bleeding red it's always best just to check with your doc. No idea why you're throwing up but it is another reason to call.

I would call your doctor asap and explain this to her. With my firstborn I too was throwing up on the day I was starting labor and had my daughter 6 hrs. later. Good luck!

Call your OBGYN's after hours number or take yourself to the nearest hospital. That type of bleeding is not normal and needs to be addressed now.
