Led Zeppelin hands down.
They haven't played since Bonzo died (27 years ago) and they are still at the top of almost everyones Rock and Roll list. Young and old rockers find their music amazing. Look back 27 years and find another band that can say the same thing.
Heres an excerise in futility, think of any band today that will be held in the same regard 27 years from now.

I think the 3 Purple albums (In Rock, Fireball, Machinehead) and the following Made In Japan would make Deep Purple the hardest rocking band of all time. Even now few have ever match that sequence, even Purple themselves have failed to do so.

It is too hard to choose just one but I have to go with Deep Purple and also Led Zepplin. It was an honor to see them both in concert. What a show!!

I want to say Zeppelin, because it is probably true, but I'm gonna mix things up a bit and say The Who.
