I'm in first year college and on my highschool graduation my mommy bought me an hp pavilion dv6000t and I tell you it's really worth all the money. It's an ENTERTAINMENT PC.It has a complete set of built-ins
1.webcam
2.microphones
3.5-in-1 card reader
4.express card slot
5.bluetooth
6.infrared
and many more.
It has a very good image and sound quality coz both its LCD and SPEAKERS are high definition.
It also has a remote control which is so cool for a laptop to have .I guess...
It has lightscribe technology and touch sensitive quickplay buttons..
It has an on-off button for the touch pad and It has this very nice looking IMPRINT FINISH only from hp.
Mine is Windows Vista and it works pretty good on my hp because they are both slick looking.
They complement each other.
I highly RECOMMEND HP!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're gonna buy a new laptop I guess its good to buy Vista.
Many people might not understand me but Vista works good for me.
The only problems I have with it is its incompatibility with OLDER PROGRAMS on the other hand I think its not really a problem for me because there are this LATEST SOFTWARES that are suitable to use for this contemporary times of computer age.
That's all.
I hope you find this helpful.

I happened to the same problem as yours. The screen shuts down randomly. It seems a common problem for HP. I have three other classmates, who all choose HP. The problem they met was the screen turned black or blue with some warning lines, suddenly, during their work. And when they re-started the laptop, the screen kept in trouble. Only after a while, the laptop returned to normal, however, the same thing happened once a while. So terrible. I'm not sure whether Dell is better, but please be cautious when choosing HP.

HP is 100% better than Dell, so you should get an HP.

Dell has AMAZING deals right now. Check out their site. HP can't compete with those deals at all.

Matter of opinion - if they are similarly equipped. Dell has some pretty good deals going on now.
