I just recently had a sensor replaced with my windows and now my windows go up automatically I was told from an independant dealer this is a factory function. Yet when I talked to BMW they stated this is not true. Does anyone know for sure?

It comes down 1/4 inch when you open the door, and goes up 1/4 inch after the door is shut. This allows the frameless window design to have a good seal against the elements outside. This is a standard feature on all coupes and convertibles.

As for the windows going up or down all the way automatically, you can do this by putting your key in the door and holding it in the unlocked position to open all windows and sunroof, and holding it in the locked position to close all of them. The all-open feature can also be triggered by pressing and holding the unlock button on the remote.

I don't know.

My car is a 323ci convertible, and the widow automatically goes down 1/4 inch when I open the door, and raises up completely when the door gets shut.

It is to seal the top of the glass window into the rubber to prevent leakage (and no leaks whatsoever).

I don't know if that helps or not.
