My baby will be 4 weeks on Saturday. Her sleeping schedule is usually pretty regular right now, she goes to bed around 9pm, wakes up around midnight for a feeding, again around 3-4, and again at 6. I'm wondering when your baby began sleeping for atleast 5-6 hours at a time or throughout the night? I know its early for me to even begin thinking about this fantasy lol, but I'd just like to know some stories. Thanks!

Around 10-12 pounds, your baby will begin to sleep more soundly through the night.

For us it was 12 pounds, and our son would go to bed around 9:00, get up around 5:00 for a feeding, and then sleep until 9:00 AM.

You're almost there!! With our son we had 2 months of coilic, and with our next one (due on Labor day) we're preparing for the worst but praying for the best!

I'm a mom of two....my boys began sleeping through the night between 10 and 12 weeks. Before this happens, the sleeping times will increase from 3 to 4 hours at a time to 5 and 6 and so on. Don't wish this time away, they grow sooo fast. I miss the infant times of rocking and feeding and cooing. I know when your sleep deprived, nothing else seems more important than when will the baby sleep through the night. Try to nap when the baby is napping. Good luck and sweet dreams.

My son just started to sleep for longer than 5 hours at a time. He just turned 3 months on Sunday. My mom said my brother was over a year before he started sleeping through the night (9 pm to 7 am). I'm still thinking about the fantasy that this longer night sleep will happen soon :)

My daughter started sleeping about 5-6 hours a night around 6-7 weeks. And the first night she did it i woke up at the 4 hour mark freaking out that she was not crying and went into her room to see if she was breathing. Everything was fine, but the first time will scare the crap out of you.

You don't want to hear. Ok, my children were a year apart. When one would sleep, the other was awake. My daughter was a night person and Never was able to go to sleep before 12:00; even after her son was born she could not go to bed early. My son went the wrong way and at the age of 15, he began to stay awake and could not go to bed before midnight. Hang in there and do not hesitate to let grandma and grandpa keep baby over night. Let your husband get up with the baby. My husband was extremely offended because I did not let him get up with the babies. I thought he should get a good nights rest.

My little one started at 4 weeks old. It could be not until 3 4 mnths. there is a book called baby wise that can help you out, but i did not use it i felt it too harsh. You could try to do this. give her a warm bath, and then give her her bottle/breast whichever she uses and let her feed longer then she would normally. see if that might put her into a longer sleeping pattern. but what you are stating in the above is about normal. I think i just lucked out and i have no idea how that happens. she is 22mnths and still sleeps about 12 13 hours straight. I bet my second one wont be like that---LOL

My daughter started the 5-6 hour stretch at about 2 months old and it got better from there so hang on. Hopefully it won't be much longer. And like the other mom said, the first time it happens, it will scare the hell out of you!

It's not unreasonable to start hoping for it to happen at 4 weeks. I know it wasn't too long after that when my son started sleeping longer. It was maybe about 4 to 6 weeks. We started giving him a bath every night to prompt him to sleep, and it also helps to have some white noise (sounds of rain, beaches, a fan, etc.).

It could be a few months, especially if you're breastfeeding...breasmilk is broken down faster so baby gets hungry faster...Once baby gets bigger and starts eating more, she may sleep longer...sounds like she's on a pretty good schedule already! (I know you'd like to sleep a little more than 2 hours at a time...but it will happen, don't worry!)
