People use "natural family planning" as a birth control and when used properly, it's quite accurate. You need to see a doctor to really know when good days are considering all women are different and you need to chart your basil body temperature and understand the different types of cervical mucus.
Two methods of natural family planning are currently taught. The first is the ovulation method. In this method, the days just before and just after ovulation are determined by checking the woman's cervical mucus. When a woman is most likely to become pregnant, the cervical mucus is stretchy, clear and slick. Some people say that the cervical mucus during this time looks and feels much like an uncooked egg white.

The second method is called the symptothermal method. With this method, the woman takes her temperature each day with a special thermometer and writes it down on a chart. At the time of ovulation, a woman's temperature will rise slightly. The woman also checks the consistency of her cervical mucus. She may also notice other changes, such as pain in the area of the ovaries, bloating, low backache and breast tenderness.

In both methods, couples use a special chart to keep track of the changes in the woman's body.

These methods can help a couple avoid pregnancy if the couple receives training from a specialized instructor and if they carefully follow all of the instructions provided. (Ask your doctor how to find an instructor who is specially trained in teaching natural family planning.) Both methods can be 90% to 98% effective (2 to 10 pregnancies per 100 couples) when they are practiced correctly. However, if a couple doesn't follow the instructions completely, these methods will be much less effective. In practice, these methods may not be as reliable as other forms of birth control.

If you are absolutly positive you do not want any more children. Then maybe look into having something more permenent done "tubal or vasectamy" or maybe even an IUD.. Even though you are using condoms and trying to be safe accidents happen.. My pregnancy now is proof of that.. Your most fertile days come between 14-17 days after your menstral cycle if you prefer not to have anything invasive done to keep from getting pregnant.. Best of Luck..

double up on protection. Go on the pill AND use condoms. The method you are wanting is not very accurate.

But tracking your ovulation is the ONLY way to try to miss those days and no one here knows your cycle so you have to do it yourself.

If you want to be certain then daddy needs to get a snip job and mommy needs to get the tubes tied. If you dont, no matter what kind of birth control you use eventually Mother Nature is gonna catch up with you and you will end up with Baby #3.

I know a woman with 3 more children they originally planned on using the 'rhythm' method. Some swear by it, I don't think it's a sure bet- why not get on more reliable birth control or have your tubes tied or have him get a vasectomy?

The days she's not ovulating. Which she can't know *for sure* without using costly ovulation predictor kits. She's *most likely* to be fertile 10-16 days after the first day of her last period, but there's no guarantee that she won't ovulate earlier, later, or even twice in one month. That's just the AVERAGE time.

This is different for every woman, so you need to learn how to predict them. Natural Family Planning with the sympto thermo method is easy and very effective. You can google it to find info, I recomend getting a book or taking a class with the couple to couple league. My husband and I loved the freedom it gave us, and I really understood my body with it.

Good Luck.

Ovulation usually takes place 14 days after the beginning of your menstrual cycle, so with that said that would be the worst time to have sex. I would say right before or after your period but it could still be possible to get pregnant then.
