Pick a distance for it to travel and measure the total time it took to travel that distance.

Average velocity is the change in distance divided by the change in time.

So if I went 20 miles in 10 minutes I was traveling 2 miles a minute or 120 miles per hour.

If I went 20 miles in 4 hours then i was traveling at 5 miles per hour.

Ask a cop. Seriously. He seemed to know how fast I was moving on Town Hall Drive. And we were going in opposite directions. OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS! C'mon, guy, gimme a break! I was running late and there was NO OTHER TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD!
