The world around me seems a game... a spinning of wheels with no true motion. Get on the ride, engineer the better money making machine or join an activist group and try to save the world by playing god. Quantify and qualify, classify existence and rationalize homogenization to your particular value set. Our souls become cowed and shrunken, but it is the price of progress; just wait, this is creating a better world! The gears are disintegrating, but the ride must continue as the queue continues to grow.
Mother says: Settle down with a nice girl and have sweet children, seek solace in the comfort of family.
Father says: Work hard and build a solid career; make lots of money.
Grandparents say: Sacrifice today and reap the reward tomorrow.
Friends say: Do something no one else has done, create a unique and lasting legacy
Ministers say: Follow God's law, repent your human vices -
FOR TOMORROW YOU SHALL BE DELIVERED

We get real meaning by working out our real purpose. Without real purpose there can be no meaning.
The only way we can have real purpose is if there is a God because purpose requires a plan and a plan requires a planner.
So we're either created or not. If we think we might be created beings, we should seek our Creator to understand our purpose and meaning - not just invent something and say it comes from God.
If we think we're not created beings, then we're looking for something that doesn't exist. In your examples above, people are telling you to invent some purpose and pretend that it is real. This is good if you have the required self deception skills.
For me, I seek God because I think that knowing my Creator and having a relationship with Him is the ultimate purpose from which all other secondary purposes flow.

Life is about finding truth.
Sounds easy, but a truly narrow road.
Religion entangles the mind to slavery
Government ties the body to a machine
Private consumerism entraps us on a merry go round
Our own minds are so exhausted we succumb.
The meaningful life dies as a frost burns of the grass. Do we stay in a perpetual winter of the soul or do we damn the illusion to the bin and break free of the numbness.

Yes. It is a spinning wheel of madness. There are no answers within it.
You are really going to freak people out if you try to talk to your family about it. People don't understand about disillusionments because they are too afraid to look at it themselves. You can't do anything about that so don't try and change them. Save yourself that agony.
Sometimes its hard to know what is worse:
Living in the madness while being asleep to it. Or, waking up to the reality that none of it means anything. It's nothing you will be able to explain to very many people that you meet. I don't have any advice for you except to do what you know you need to do when you hear it.

Go off alone somewhere depending only on the providence of the Almighty. Read the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. You'll find true meaning and you'll find yourself.

in the words of Macbeth, Life is but a walking shadow. it is a poor player that frets, and struts its hour upon the stage, and is heard no more. It is a tail told by an idiot, full of sound and furry signifying nothing.

My friend the key to life is living it, growing and becoming the person u want to be, we all are not perfect,we all have parents ,some of us have children, grandparents bad and good experiences, but when it comes down to it, who is living your life? Only You. I believe God is the key to Life, and my life is my gift. all he wants is for us to love him and love ourselves, choose love for you that he gave you and start living your life.
