he is a large goldfish type ,fat, it has a place on its side that bare. raw skin.and it want heal. i put salt in the water as advised but its still not healing.what to do? thanks.

A large open wound is almost aways the result of a bacterial infection or physical damage. I'll assume you ruled out damage and you have an infection on your fish.
I would suggest you treat with tetracycline (like Marcyn TC) as directed on the package. It will get rid of the infection, but the wound will still take some time to heal.

with no scales salt was a bad idea. With no scales, fishes like that cant handle salt as it will burn them. Thats why aquarium salt is never used with fishes that are scaleless like loaches.
But whats done is done, try using stress coat. I know it is a water conditoner but it does a great job getting fish to produce their fish slime which will help them prevent infections. So get some stress coat, and just a very very,very clean tank.
The scales will come back in time, but the tank really needs to be clean.
