Humanity is just a flicker of a build in cosmic terms at best. Humanity will wipe itself out. Our existence will be just a blip unnoticed.
Lets hope as energy once again ,we do it a lot better.

According to the present theories the universe will become, in some many trillion years, a very dark place, no light at all, so there will be no one to notice anything. But since that is a long way off, if the theories are correct, maybe we could evolve to be able to change things. Think positive and learn all you can about the universe.

My personal philosophy is that we are all drops from a 'soul pool' to which we return when we die - each adding our unique 'color' of experiences.
Regardless, if there is a soul, an essence, or a source for that matter, a record will remain - just not in the egotistical 'I' sense in which we are familiar.

Can I answer this question with a poem? (of course I can)
... the lone and level space-time continuum stretches far away
Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

I believe that right now we are transmitting radio waves. I also believe that those waves are going to be present in the universe as we know it as long as it exists, even if it goes dark, but if the universe ends in a "big rip" or "big crunch" that data will forever be lost.

Eventually seems to be the key word. Eventually what you've described seems likely enough.
That's where I'd put my money.
Remember where you heard it.
