I am raising my own snails and I am tired of buying food. Anybody know how to make them or can suggest what to put in it? Any ideas or suggestion welcome.

Just in case you don't know, the food is for the snails to eat.

Use spinach baby food, kids liquid vitamins, calcium tablets, and rice baby cereal. Add a dose or two of the vitamins to the spinach, grind in a calcium tablet and thicken with the rice cereal. Spread this as thin as a dine (or so) on a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake at 200-250 F until completely dry. Store in a zip top baggie in the freezer and keep only a small amount out at any given time as it will be prone to fungus and mold. Far cheaper than purchased food and provides for their needs. The only draw back is that it will break down more quickly in water.

There are also several gelatin receipes using unflavored gelatin, baby food and vitamins that set up in a baking dish before you cut it into feeding sized portions. The idea there will be using less water than is called for in the package so that it will stay firm.

Of course, you can also make arrangements with your local grocer to get old and wilted veggies every few days for little to no cost and feed those as long as they last.

Snails, I've found, love zucchinis. I had some in for my otto but the snails really swarmed in and now there are many more snails than I remember ever being there. If you have a plant weight, you can use one to weigh the zucchini down so the snails can latch on. You can also do this with other green vegetables.

certainly algae is one of the main ingredients. leaving a small tank out in the sun will gorw algae and then you can take it off and allow it to dry and then you have a aper like substance like seaweed they use for sushi.

Then you can add it to a aquarium vegi clip and it will hold the creation.

Snails will also eat greens that you might eat. Swiss chard, spinach etc...
