Not a cat, they equal to the commitment of a dog. Get a caged mammal. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and rats are highly interactive and cuddly. Hamsters, mice, gerbils are easily handled. Look them up and see what catches your interest. :)

Dogs are a huge commitment and whilst they are probably the ones which you get the most attached to you need a smaller animal to start off with. Something along the lines of a guinea pig or a different small animal. Dogs need alot of care which you can not always offer them when you are at school, a guinea pig on the other hand is quite happy (as long as it has a companion) to be left alone all day. They need about 1 hour and 30 minutes at least per day but are very rewarding. After having a guinea pig and guiding it through it's last years you will probably have finished school, this is the time in which you can settle down with a larger animal like a dog.

I'm 14, too and I have a lot of responsibility on my hands, my hands only. 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, and 3 cats can be a handful, but I love them and I adopted all of them because I had free time on my hands and I thought It'd be nice to have pets in my house as best friends. You have to see how much time you'll be having if you get your pet, because animals need a lot of attention and care. If you're looking for an animal that's easy to take care of, how about a guinea pig, dog, cat, or a bird. They're all nice animals, but some of them needs a lot of training, and if you're willing to be dedicated to love and have patience, it'll be EASY. Fishes are nice pets too, but you can't play with them. All you can do is feed them, clean their water bowl, and watch as they swim around. Before you decide on getting an animal, decide whether you have time to spend time with your pet and how much you'll have.

Good luck.

kitten, rat, rabbit or ferret. All of those are easy to care for. Also, guinea pigs make great pets and can be leash trained

Cats are very sweet and loving, intelligent and they're independent so you can go away for the weekend and not worry about them. Just leave out food and water. :)

A cat is a pretty independant pet, and playful...or a hamster. I would go with a cat.
