Search for the Cell Phones
Mrs. Darbus has hidden everyone's cell phones. The kids have to find them! Before the party hide several plastic, candy filled or lip gloss cell phones. Write clues using the movie as hints. You'll find a fun quiz and other ideas that may help on the High School Musical Website. When it's time to play, the kids will work as a team to answer all of the clues and find the cell phones. Of course everyone gets a
phone to take home!
Name That Tune
Have the children take turns humming the first few notes of a High School Musical song. Can the other players guess which song it is? Keep adding notes, or even words as additional clues when necessary. This game can also be played with other popular songs.
Who Said It
Before the party, write down several lines from the movie with the character that said it, on slips of paper. The players take turns selecting a slip of paper form a basket. Then, they'll say the quote aloud and see who can guess the character from the movie that belongs to that quote.
Mrs. Darbus’s Class
Pretend you’re Mrs. Darbus and the day’s lesson is for everyone to impersonate characters from their favorite movies or musicals. Give the group a few minutes to think about which scene they’d like to act out. Then, one at a time, have each child perform a scene. Let the group guess which movie/musical and character is being acted out.
Musical Dress-up
Fill decorated boxes with fun, funky star wardrobes. Place boxes on opposite ends of a room, and use masking tape to mark a circle in center of floor. Ask all your party guests to walk around the circle while the stereo plays a rockin’ tune. When you stop the music, players must rush to 1 of the boxes and put on 1 dress-up item. Continue until all items are gone.
Troy & Gabriella’s Musical Microphone
Seat all your party guests in a circle, and put on some music. Pass around the microphone while music plays. When you stop the music, player holding the microphone has to sing a short song. Play until everyone’s had a chance to sing.
Wildcats Hoop
Place the hoop (or bucket) on the floor or lawn. With rope or tape, create a free-throw line. One by one, have the party guests step up to the line. Everyone has 30 seconds to shoot. Whoever makes the most baskets, wins. Give players several chances to play. When everyone is done, reward all party guests for their excellent effort with prizes, such as Wildcats Temporary Tattoos, Pompoms or All-Star Bracelets.
Red Carpet Parade
Lay the red fabric on the ground—outside, if the weather permits, or in a long hallway. Make sure you have plenty of accessories on hand. After your party guests are all glammed-up, turn on some High School Musical music, and let them walk the red carpet. Have kids call out names like the paparazzi do and take pictures of your young stars as they pose for pictures.

i am having a HSM party for my soon to be 8yr old in a couple weeks, i'm fer sure doing the 'mrs.darbus hides the cell phones' thing. i just bought 10(1 for each girl) $1 makeup cell phones at walmart. my daughter wanted to do the karoke, but that would require me to buy a $60 karaoke machine, so instead she is just going to sing to the cd-if she'll ACTUALLY do it, but i wouldn't want to do a game putting the other kids on the spot to sing. besides that i don't know-that's why i'm on here too!! good luck
