It would help me to know how old you are, and if you're a virgin (it sounds like you are.) Virgins should be able to wear tampons. Buy the plastic, rounded small tampons. Get someone who wears them, throw your modesty out of the bathroom, and get her to help you. Put KYJelly (you can buy generic at any drug store)on the tip of the tampon and on and inside of you. Remember, no cardboard. And get help. Your hymen is 6 inches in, so if you have pain when it's only 2 inches in, you may have a problem. Possibly a polyp. Anyway, try everything I told you (you can practice even when you're not on your period, because you'll be well lubricated. But if and when you get it in, pull it right out by the string. And when it's in properly, you shouldn't be able to feel a thing. Good luck, sweetie. You will get through this too!! :)

You should be able to wear a tampon. It's not fun putting them in, and there may be some pressure but thats normal. If you have never had intercourse or used a tampon, it may just be uncomfortable for you because of this. I would say you main problem is that you are not relaxed and when you start to insert the tampon, you tense up and this makes it uncomfortable. You may want to try some KY jelly until you get use to it, also try standing up with one leg on the sink or a chair... if all else fails use pads and try again later.
As for you question about having a too small hymen, your hymen is membrane that is part of the vulva, it is on the outside, not the inside. If you are able to insert the tampon at all, then you have made it past the hymen so this cannot be the problem.

Try lubricating them with a little K-y jelly on the tip.If this does not work, do NOT force them. You could get scratches that can become infected. Tampons are more convenient than pads, but not if they are so uncomfortable that they hurt. Talk to your Primary care doctor or Gynocologist to be sure there isn't a reason that they are so uncomfortable. I could not wear them because my uterus was tipped forward so it made it really painful to wear them even with the K-y. So I have had to wear the pads.I tried every brand, it did not seem to matter, they all hurt.Even after I had children. Rule out physical issues first. Then follow the suggestions of your doctor.

I am the exact same way! My friends say I would need to wear barbie tampons. I don't think they make them that small though =]
Stick to pads. I like them better and you don't have to worry so much about leaks. And/or forgetting it's in.

Just relax one of the bggest things is relaxing...cause if you aren't relaxed it won't go in and make sure you are putting it in at an angle cause that is the way vagina's are shaped

I'm 43 and haven't been able to wear them. Maybe you just haven't broken your hymen yet, which is probably why it's a little painful (and it will be until you break it). Talk to your gynecologist.

If your a virgin, it could be a lot harder to insert a tampon than someone who lost their virginity. Maybe your hymen is small, talk to your doctor about it and show them how you insert it. maybe they can figure out the problem.

Just wear pads. I don't like tampons, but sometimes I use them to go swimming. Maybe you could put some KY jelly and relax. It helps to stand and put one foot up like on the toilet or tub or chair. Or just wear pads, they're cleaner, in my opinion.

Then try thin pads then you won't risk getting toxic shock syndrome.
