My husband wants me to get the DVD. I hear that it is just a trend Oprah started by having the author on her show. I guess it's making millions for the author but is it stuff we already know? I also read an excerpt in an article that says it says something like "if you don't want to be fat, don't look at fat people". That is rude and shallow! In my opinion, from what I've read, this book promotes self-centeredness; something I think society has already accomplished. I am going to watch it but would like to know your thoughts.

Well, my thought is that it was going to be "new age" and I am a Christian. I want to know if this relates biblically. I don't want to learn that I am God or idolize myself or anything. For the girl that stopped going to church! Go back!

I think that society does not know about the secret and that's why the world is so lost, It made a lot of sense to me since I watched the DVD and reed the book. Now I have to confess that since I know the secret I've been very confused, because I used to be a very good Cristian and I used to go to church every Sunday, but since they say that god and the power is inside of you and you are the only one who can create your own reality, I stopped going to church and I don't know if that's the right thing to do, and also I haven't find the way to apply the secret in my life rightly... Maybe I just have too much to ask for! So what do you think?

My thoughts on The Secret is just a bunch of ideas that everyone SHOULD know already, but have probably just rediscovered them in the form of the book. I honestly wouldn't take a lot of the stuff that The Secret says seriously, though there are some things in it that are just plain obvious -- like if you keep thinking that it will happen, it will happen. (Well, duh if you keep thinking about it, AND working hard towards it, you'll surely reach your goal).

But anyway, I think it's just a little too superstitious for me. I watched a video of it in my religion class, and the people (the testimonies) that truly believed in The Secret were a bit insane, believing in doing silly rituals, and were indeed, full of themselves.

I'd really reccomend the DVD it's far better explained and easier to understand than the book. So many of the concepts are better explained Visually.
Also you get a much better idea of how it works from the contributors who come from a variety of backgrounds

Go grab it off Amazon, you won't be disappointed -

I'm grabbing lots of copies for my friends and they're like WOW!

i wouldn't get it, from what i can tell it is just a repeat of what has been said a thousand times, but there are always new books for new folks who maybe haven't discovered certain things yet, or need to hear it again, in which case it's not a bad thing. anything that provides inspiration is nice. but yeah, sounds like a lot of hype to me.

Oprah didn't start the trend, nor did the author.

Old ideas re-hashed.
