My boyfriend and I will eventually get married and consider having a baby. We only want one, but would prefer it to be a boy. Of course we wouldn't be dissappointed if it were to be a girl. But what would be the chances of it being a boy or a girl. I have a brother and he has two brothers. Neither of us have any sisters. Would this increase the likelihood of having boy?

52-53% of babies born in the US are boys. So, you have slightly better than 50/50 chance for one. As far as your family history, there aren't enough children in eitherof your families to assume that there is a preference for boys. Also, try the Shettles method. That has been shown to work better than completely random.

Each pregnancy is different, and despite what you want to hear, it is 50/50. It depends on what type of sperm fertilizes your egg - xy or xx. There are rumors, however, saying that the female sperm live inside the body longer. Therefore, if you have sex two to three days before you ovulate, the male sperm would have died sooner and if you were to become pregnant, it may have a higher chance in being female. If you had sex closer to your ovulation, or on the day of, then there's really no way to be sure. There are always exceptions - don't believe the myths such as a chinese gender prediction chart or, "If your butt is big, it's a boy," etc. Personally, I hope my baby is healthy and will be happy if it is a boy or a girl. Would be a shame if I carried a preferance for so long and then became disappointed when I learned the gender - it's really not fair to the child. Good luck to you.

Always 50/50 you having a brother does not matter because you are a girl you can only give the baby an X= girl chromosome so technically women can only make more girls (because all your eggs are X female eggs before the are fertilized). The man's sperm will decide if it's a boy or a girl and it's really a toss up from there.

I know it is not at all up to me or anyone else but you and your future husband, but I really hope you reconsider having only one. I am an only child and hate it, I would do anything to have a brother or sister.

As for having a boy over a girl I dont really know I have often wondered the same thing. Personally I would say that there is more likely for you to have a boy because there are not many girls in your family. But it can also be seen as theres bound to be a good eventually.

Probably not. It's usually always a 50/50 chance. There are some factors that can change the odds a little, but for the most part it's an even chance.

no it depends on his swimmers and which one gets there first it has nothing to do with how many brothers and sisters you have also an old wives tale if you have sex closer to ovulation and the egg has been releades it will be a boy but if you have sex and a few days later you concieve it will be a girl this is because the girl sperm lives longer than the boys but the boys swim faster

I've heard that if you have sex closer to the day you ovulate (like within 24 hours or so)...then it'd be a boy....but if you have sex like say 48 hours before your supposed to ovulate then you'd have a higher chance of having a girl because "girl sperm" "swim" slower than "boy sperm"!!! Good Luck!

So you got three brothers? You said you got a brother and he has two brothers. Anyways, its half and half. But he can also have stronger boys or girls. My husband has stronger boys. All his family is boys and he had one.
