First off.. just because the box says you can use it 5 days early doesn't really mean it is an accurate result. Every woman is different. Some take longer to build the HCG up in their urine. Just give it a little more time. My best friend got her positive today and she is 16DPO. She has been testing for the past 4 or 5 days. She missed her period last night and finally got 2 faint positives this morning and a strong positive this afternoon. She confirmed with a blood test. Everyone is different. Try to hang in there! Good Luck!

I got a positive 8dpo w/ a dollar store test this time but w/ my 1st I was 2 days late so like 16 dpo and it was still neg. obviously I really was preg. I just did blood work with the doc.'s office and found out that way I'm sure if i retested a few days later it would have been positive. Anyway neg. could mean there is no HCG (not preg.) or there is no HCG present in the urine at the time you test. In my case a neg. HPT just meant there was no HCG present at that time not that I was not preg. So it could go either way. Since it's neg. expect to see a period and if it's late then re-test. Best wishes and baby dust!

Yes it is too early. Implantation doesn't happen until 7-10 dpo, so you wouldn't have enough hcg in your urine yet. Early pregnancy tests are never 100%, even if they say you can test up to a week before you period.

You should wait until you miss a period before taking a test. If you are pregnant, you may get a false negative and be disappointed. If your not pregnant, then why waste a test?

Save yourself the heartbreak and ignore this test. Test again in a week. Good luck!

I know they say they can detect a positive 5 days sooner, but the accuracy is only about 85% as opposed to 99.9% when used the day you are due or a week later.

It is so nerve wracking to wait, but if you are 10DPO then you only have 4 more days to either have a blood test or retest.

False negatives or faint positives could occur the day you are due and the best results will be seen when you are a week or so late.

Many tests need you to be at least 12dpo, don't lose hope. The test that say you can get a posiitve result 5 days before a missed period, are assuming a 14 days luteal phase. Mine is only 12 days, so 5 days before my period is only 7dpo, so it would never be correct for me. If you had a longer luteal phase, say 16 days, then you would be 11dpo, 5 days before you miss your period. Also, in the small print you will see percentages of women who actually get a result that early, and it's less that half. Just wait until you have skipped your period.

It really depends on the pregnancy test you used for this test. For example Clear Blue is only 82% accurate and First Response is 98% 3 days before your period is due. If you check the leaflet it should give you a level of accuracy for the test you have used, it may just be too soon to tell with the test you have taken. The symptoms are so difficult because they can be the same for early pregnancy as for period is arriving. Good luck and I hope you get a good result very soon

It's definitely very early! Don't lose hope just yet. I would do the following:

Test again on the day of your period. If it's negative, test again a few days later. Keep testing every few days until you get a positive or your period, whichever comes first.

GOOD LUCK! Seriously, it is still very early. Most women DO NOT get positives this soon. These boards are helpful, but please don't rely on it for medical info. Ask your doctor, he/she will tell you...

A home test sometimes won't register until you're 6-8 weeks along...that isn't the case all the time, but they aren't 100% accurate! I've had my fair share of false negatives!! Wait to see if your period shows up, and test again after your period is a week or so late. Good luck!!!
