If used in the context of " I think this child is DD. If you look closely at photographs, you can see there is clearly something missing"
Does anyone have any idea what that would mean please?

DD means developmentally delayed. In FL, a child that is diagnosed DD may get services through the public school system (ages 3-5). Some children, with proper intervention & therapies, will progress enough to be dismissed by the time they reach Kdg. Some states allow the child to keep the DD label until age 9, in FL they must either qualify for another program or be dismissed by age 6. DD does not always mean the child is mentally handicapped. A child can qualify for the DD program by having a delay of 20% or more in one or more areas. Sometimes a child has a motor delay( such as a child with CP, but has normal cognitive ability), sometimes a child is delayed in language (vocabulary- expressive & receptive). It can vary significantly from one individual to another. Hope this helps.

Developmentally Disabled. It usually means a low or below normal IQ. It's hard but not impossible for them to learn. There are certain benchmarks in a child's development. If they dont reach those benchmarks within a certain period of time, they're labeled DD.

Dear daughter. DS= Dear son he means penis is not there on the picture. It means he thinks you're having a girl. DD and DS are what people use on pregnancy blogs and journals. Here is a link for you

Here is another one

O.K. given that everyone is saying developmentally disabled, I have this opinion... I'm assuming you mean that this was an ultrasound, if that is the case then I would assume that if your Dr. believed that your child was developmentally disabled that he wouldn't have just said I think this child is DD and left it there for you to figure out on your own. I would think that he would go on to explain this to you and set up appts. with specialist. So given the assumption that this didn't happen(or you wouldn't have to ask) and given the assumption that this is an ultrasound I am sticking with he thinks it's a girl. Before you get all scared just call your Dr. and ask, which is what you should ALWAYS do if you have a question. If he did mean developmentally disabled however and he didn't explain it, then find a new Dr.

Education is a wonderful thing, but the downside of filling your head with "knowledge" is that it makes less room for being open to alternatives.
Mostly every eye doctor and optometrist truly believe that THEY KNOW BEST... and quite frankly, they have to... The grim alternative is to face a life crises (like I did), and the complete breakdown of their current life and practice.
The optometry industry is one thing... but it's no use blaming your doctor or optometrist for being ignorant. Rather be happy you've been lucky enough to stumble upon this quick and reliable way to regain your natural vision abilities.
