I don't see why the single guys should be banned from this. We can take a bullet but we can't unwind in the company of a professional morale booster? We can't drink in the desert or have sex because of GO1. People act shocked when some soldier flips out. What do you expect when they are denied certain liberties we are sworn to uphold and protect?

Steven F you are a tool and probably pay for prostitution anyways. The only thing you know about the military is what you see in the movies or read in the paper. You're a weak beeach....

I'm simply stating that the DoD is attempting to enforce a code of ethics that is not consistant with what they are asking us to do. We can legally kill people, in accordance with LOAC but we can't have consentual sex where there is money exchanged. Hookers are not my thing but I don't think it would hurt anybodt to let a few ground pounders burn off some pent up frustration.

I understand what you are saying but the military has it's ways. The fact is that the military has always frowned on solders using prostitutes but know that many do when over seas and on leave. Who knows why some of those fools at the Pentagon make some of the rules and changes they do, heck I bet they don't know half the time. The fact is however is that what they say is law. The military has it's own laws and regulations. The main reason is that is looking out for the group not each individual solder. I must say I do not disagree with this law, nor does my father that is a ret. colonel, nor my friend that is a major. Most hookers will end up with some sort of illness, the last thing the military needs is like it was in Vietnam. You could always tell when a bunch of guys got back from some time off, because there would be a line out the door of the clinic of guys getting shots for the wonderful gift that the hookers had given them. I will say it is sad that you can get you *** blown up but still cant have a few beers to relax.

You sound like you believe the rules have changed in the last 50 years. You also act like the average member of the military has no self discipline. When I see a question based on at least 1 fact, I will attempt a serious answer.

Well in the United States prostitution is illegal. as it has been for a while. Since soldiers are employees they follow most laws of the US. Prostitution is illegal because of stds and pregnancy's.
And if you think about prostitution as a business the prostitutes would have to pay income taxes on all they earn off their clients and that would suck for the prostitutes.

Well - there is always loopholes ... see ...

When I was in the Military - I had a bit of a reputation that went before me ... and all the guys would go to the pros for their jollies - and when the pros got pretty bored - they would pay me to liven up their lives and rid them of the memories of the regulary john ... no bragging of course;

it just helped me pay my bills - AND ...

It was a great loophole. CID comes knocking at my door wanting to press charges for paying for sex on their warrants - I told them I did not pay for it - I WAS PAID ... and claiming it on my taxes as my patriotic (and dumbasssss duties) - they did not have a leg to stand on.

O.k. - just figured I would get the ultimate lie in first - not at all real and I never was with a hooker let alone a whore THOUGH HAD OPPORTUNITIES ...even did go to the red light districts in Germany (Frankfurt) and asked all the girls why they did it - and we had great talks ... I was always surrounded by lovely "looking" ladies that were full of diseases - (though checked out each month by a vet) - and we got along great.

I enjoyed their company - not because of what they did - but; because of what they had to say about the stories others told them ... actually paying them for the time used in telling them ... and they usually paid their own way and even mine as they were always wanting me to fall in ... but; I simply refused to become that corrupt.

TO THE POINT ... there was NO prostitution in Iraq before the U.S. Military arrived ... they created this business opportunity for those women - after of course removing the veil ... as any prostitute in that country would have been put to death.

Seldom was V.D. or any STD heard of or found in Iraq ... until once again - the US Forces arrived.

Now then - after the military created this great job opportunity for those who were left alone with their fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters murdered and they not having any to turn to with all the business shut down and nobody bringing home the bacon ...

GI's would line up to help out such a poor and destitute lady and try to help her get back on her feet ... after hours and days on her back - so she could afford a loaf of bread ...

YEAH - G.I.'s ... way to go.

And now - these women are put out of business because the Iraqi men would not ever use a woman in such a way ...

Where will this leave these poor woman that have no family left and none to bring home the bacon - only a disibilitating disease or ten ... and a gone out of business sign on their laps???

Certainly our Country should give them welfare, food stamps (or even food ... the reason why they opened shop to begin with ... and it was better than rape and no pay, or rape and murdered so no tales could be told ...) - certainly we should be able to help those ladies who are brand new to the business - (only since the invasion) to obtain some support.

Why not allowt he G.I.'s to marry them??? they slept with them - why not do that??? Or would that be immorral when most of those complaining ARE ALREADY MARRIED ANYWAY???

Ahhhh - forget the booze and the woman - just puff the opium that is abounding since the US Forces got there to help establish a great agricultural foundation ... in the poppy business ... and forget all your cares and forget all your troubles ... ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS ... ONWARD!!!

Peace;

Aintmyfault

As a service member, yeah I'm a woman a prostitute doesn't interest me, but you know where it's legal and the boys can get away with it- they will. It's almost like a right of passage in some ports of call... No big deal, the guys keep their mouths shut, the officers know but don't care and life goes on... ooh rah!

Having relations with a prostitute is illegal in almost the entire USA (I think Nevada is different) -- while the soldiers should have similar rights to the people they defend, they shouldn't necessarily get to break the law. Also, "can't drink in the desert" sounds like a rule that when you're in a country where alcohol is illegal, as most Moslem countries are, you can't break that law either. Again--sorry, but it makes sense.

Duh...it's illegal to have sex with a prostitute whether your in the military or not. That would be why they arrest the pro's and the johns.
