I just answered this exact same question which someone else besides you posed. Here was my answer to her:
It is normal for a pregnant woman to spot after an internal exam, even earlier in the pregnancy. The cervix is full of blood vessels and they are easily agitated.
It COULD be a sign of impending labor, but I do not think it warrants a trip to the hospital if your water has not broken or you are not experiencing contractions, etc.
If you are concerned, you could call your doctor and get some reassurance from him or her.

yes. Your cervex is getting ready for delivery and easily irritated. An exam can sometimes send a woman into labor, so be prepared!!

i had my first exam today & got tested for the various stds and my OB said that i may spot because of it but not to be concerned.
