My ancestors are from South Carolina, where I currently reside. I tend to be a little bitter toward a few white females in my town who are ancestors of my family's slave owners. When I look at all that they have been handed, such as land and money that my ancestors sacrificed their lives and shed blood for, I tend to be a little distressed. Although, I may get frustrated because I have to work 10 times harder than they will ever have to get half of what they have now makes me a little uneasy. So, not sure if you asked this question because you feel that people are acting racist toward your race or not. But, there may be something that occurred before your time that causes people to be bitter. In response to your question, I do not hate anyone and am not racist against white people.

I think so. I believe most people think whites are racist. It does go back to slavery and Jim Crow Laws. I'm a genealogist and have researched my families back to the 1500's. NO ONE in my family ever owned slaves. I think many black people assume that ALL white people owned cotton farms and had 100's of slaves. This isn't true, at least not for me.

I maintain that the situation regarding race would be the same in America even if slavery had never happened here. The basis for that is the hatred for whites displayed by a lot of Hispanics whom we have only helped.

i don't know how old you are but you need to read more history books and they will bring you up to date on why white people hate everybody! i am a black man,a minority and i understand where i fit in america. every time you turn around white poeple are on the news mad at another race for one reason..their race! america is one of the largest,richest countries in the world,there is enough room for everyone. white poeple love the entertainment,food,sports and ideas of minorities but they don't want anyone to know. minorities are a major part of this wonderful country,the only one that are complaining is the whites.

well, in my generation (20-30) i think it would have to be because of our parents' stories, or perhaps something that happened first hand. but the generation of my parents and on down were kept from even drinking out of the same water fountain as their white peers. i've heard some unbelievable stories from my grandmother and when she grew up. its not just because someone is white that they don't trust them, its because they lived and saw things we could only imagine. however, there are ignorant whites and blacks today who are racist against each other for no better reason than because their friends are.

yes! and it is only getting worst, not better........so those who were oppressed feel justified........I am white I am Irish and Hungarian.......I was oppressed as i grew up in school just as if i were black, Asian, Hispanic, poor whatever. It isn't just about race.....it is about the social class we live in. we had 3 black families in the small Raul town i grew up in and these families had a better standing in our community than my family did........it is about money not skin color. I too was called all kind of names because of my heratige. So when ppl pull the racial card.........i laugh at you! Grow up and see it for what it realy is.........just hate filled ppl.
