I believe he has access to free media simply because of her audience. I also believe she has to explain herself somewhat because she is a public figure who by trade opens her up to scrutiny. She should have to explain what qualifies him so much for the job over the rest of the running field.

Obviously. The only other explanation is that he bribed her with pastries.

And you learned this where? Or is this an assumption of yours? Remember Obama may be 1/2 black but that also means he's 1/2 white. Are you saying Oprah is endorsing him because he's half white?

Oprah does not have to explain why she would endorse any candidate any more than you or I do.

Rosie didn't have to give justification as to why she thinks Bush 2 was behind 9/11 all the way. If Oprah wants to back Obama for what ever reason it's her choice. If people want to listen to her and use her for the sole reason to vote for someone it's the people's choice.

Ask yourself this question. Would you be saying the same thing if she was backing Richardson?

No, I don't. It is, I believe, a natural thing to do. After all, she an Obama are friends.....

What I am concerned about is how her public endorsement will affect her fans. They follow her so slavishly that they may not pay any attention to the issues, to the candidates and keep an eye on the debates, etc.

It is much too early in the campaign for anyone to make a decision. Unless, of course, a voter just follows the party line....or votes on how cute someone might be, or what religion a candidate is.

What Americans must do is pay attention to what is going on. Inattention is what got us George Bush.... Anything can happen between now and Election day.

When the candidates were filing for their exploratory committees Oprah fully endorsed Hilary. All the pundits went wild about the sway Oprah had with women, bob loblaw, and how it was great for Hilary to solidify the housewife demographic.

Now that another Clinton supporter has jumped ship, don't expect Hilary to be deterred. I mean its Oprah, the only power she has is to suggest Obama's autobiography for her book of the month club: "Barak Obama: My Eight Month Road to the White House."

All the Dem candidates are worthless POS, especially that Nazi Ron Paul and the Cross-dressing Edwards. I'm glad she is picking Obama over Hillary Mcbulldyke. He doesn't have a chance in the national election.

Is there a troll hiding out there?

I don't think Oprah is that stupid. Actually, I think she is one of the smartest people around. She would not endorse a black man if he supported issues that she disagreed with.

Now, if she said she wasn't voting for someone because they were white, that would be racism. And I know she would never say that.

Who cares? She is an American and can endorse who ever she wants for whatever reason she wants. Very few will vote for that 2 faced fool anyway. Only Oprah and the anti America media like him.

(Imagine Obama not in the picture at all.) Would you think she was being a feminist if she said she supported Hillary? Would you base that solely on their mutual womanhood ?
I agree that celebrities need to chill a little when it comes to endorsing candidates, there are far too many followers addicted to celebrities and their comings and goings to think that their celebrity endorsement won't effect the groupies vote.

Did she say "I endorse Obama only because he is Black"? I never heard her say that.
Besides, she should be able to endorse anyone she wants. It's not like he is getting an unfair advantage or preferential treatment because Oprah likes him...

No more so than any other woman endorsing sexism by supporting Billary Clintax based upon her gender.
