ok with my first daughter when she was teeny tiny I would give her a bath and then we would sit in the rocker and I would feed her and then talk to her about our day. Then if she didn't fall asleep after that I would walk around and kinda sway her from side to side like a swing...and if that didn't work I put her in the actual swing and let her go to sleep...and sometimes I would let her cry herself to sleep cause some nights she was just restless and nothing would please her.
With my 2nd daughter who is almost 3 weeks old now, I rub her nose..lol as weird as it sounds she likes her nose to be rubbed from top the bottom and she for some reason she likes her back smacked(as if burping her) it puts her right to sleep...and one other thing is my first daughter(now almost 3) sings to her and she falls asleep smiling so that seems to work well also = )
One other thing that worked so well for both my daughters was the vacuum...If I laid them in the bassinet and turned the vacuum on it would like instantly put them to sleep...and they both liked/like being rocked vigorously don't ask why cause I have no idea but they never liked being rocked softly it always had to have some Umph to it...my kids are weird lol

okay, my way might sound cruel but it helps him get to bed. We usually wait until we get the signal from him that he is tired (rubbing eyes and wanting to cuddle). Then we put him in his crib and turn on this one particular CD. If he cries (which he usually does) we let him cry for a good 15 mins before we go back in. Usually after 5 mins of crying he is out for the rest of the night.

My son has always fallen asleep to music, but the way we put him down changes with how old he was. The way I just descrbed we have been doing it since he was 11 months old.

oh goodness, let me see if i can remember.....

Always #1 is full tummy
#2 Dry diaper
When she was an infant, I swaddled, nursed and rocked her till she finished eating, then put her (on her back) in her crib. She was always awake but sleepy when she went into her bed. Ok, most of the time :-) Sometimes, it's hard to put them down when they're so sweet and innocently sleeping!
When she stopped nursing, it was a bottle in the rocker, rock a little after (and singing), in bed when she looked 1/2 asleep.
After bottles stopped, we just rocked and I sang. Probably did that until she was 2.

I held my baby for a few minutes, rocking them and talking softly to get them to calm down. Then before they were asleep, I put them into their crib/bassinet and let them fall asleep on their own. This way, when they were older, they were already used to going to sleep on their own and I didn't have to rock them to sleep. This really comes in handy when they're at that toddler stage where they don't like to be held or to go to sleep. My toddler never cried at bedtime, because he knew how to get himself to sleep already. Ok, well, sometimes he'd try to get my attention by throwing a fit, but only if he was just overtired and cranky already. And he always calmed himself down after a couple of minutes.

I start with a bath with johnsons bedtime bath, give him a full bottle (6-8oz) with about a tablespoon of cereal, then lay him in his crib and turn on his music mobile. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But it works for the most part.

First, full tummy and dry diaper.

Then music on tape. Either Disney Lullaby, or soft instrumentals and if that doesn't work, take out the MOMMY TAPE! Record your own voice talking to the child, reading stories and singing.

I use the Happiest Baby On the Block methods with the 5 S's...

Swaddle...
Side/stomach...
Sway/rock...
Shhing...
Sucking...

I swaddle him every night and then rock him til he looks "drunk"... put him in the crib on his positioner and turn on his "heartbeat" bear. he's good for at least a few hours if not the whole night :)
