I recieved the speeding Ticket in the Woodlands, a suburb of Houston in Texas. 6/31 - is not a real date, and i was wondering if I could be like, well I was going to show up when it became 6/31 - but at the same time I don't want a warrant and I still have until 7/31 to send in a letter saying I'll do defensive driving to clera the ticket. I want to call a lawyer and ask, but the fee for doing so will probably be equivalent to the cost of the ticket. Thanks for your help.

There used to be an urban legend that if a cop gave you a ticket, but he wasn't wearing his cap, the ticket was invalid because the cop wasn't "in uniform." Guess what, judges and referees don't care about such crap. They have wide discretion to dispense justice as they see it. And, yes, you could hire a lawyer and fight it all the way to the Supreme Court and America will owe you a debt of gratitude for doing so. And, when you go to your court date, bring your toothbrush 'cuz the judge might decide to toss your butt in jail for a while. You never know. Be prepared. Meanwhile, you'll owe your attorney a big debt. Is it worth it?

If the cop made a mistake when writing the ticket the city clerk will send out a new court date. After all cops are human too.

If this is your first offence go to court. It has always helped me. and do dress up in a suit.

Call or show up because they will not excuse the ticket for a mis-write by the cop. Take the driving course and get the ticket of your record.

you could look. The time and cost could be worth better than the fee ticket, yet you could look. i do no longer care in case you reside on the EAST coast, that doesn't ward off you kind performing in court docket. except you mom is a criminal expert, she would be able to't look on your behalf in ANY court docket. be conscious: Claiming you as a based on her taxes can't be correct. except you're an entire time scholar, it could effect in expenditures of tax fraud.

Call the court and straighten it out. A typo doesn't get you off the hook.
