If you want smoky eyes without looking gothic, there's a few things you can do. If you have jet black hair, use dark brown eyeshadows instead of black, or the goth look will be unavoidable!! Instead of using black, use a medium charcoal grey over your eyes. For daytime, 17 at Boots do a good trio of white, light grey and dark grey. For night time, a shimmery pewter will look brilliant. I use a new L'Oreal one that looks like a hexagon on the top. If you want the look a bit darker, use the grey across your eyelid and smudge a little black just above your outer corner top lashline. Use a black or dark grey pencil eyeliner along the top lash line and a little underneath your lower lash line. You don't need to line your entire eye - at the bottom, only line from the outer corner halfway across to around the centre of your pupil and blend in. You can also line the inside of your lower lid with a white pencil to brighten your eyes. The trick to not looking too gothic, aside from using lighter colours, is to only cover your eyelids - don't go above your socket or up to your brow bone, and just blend subtly for soft lines. If grey still looks too dark on you, I really would go for shades of brown, lined with smudgy dark grey eyeliner. Hope this helps! xx Emmie

Ignore the people who say you look "goth". You're you, and there's nothing they can do about it. There's not really a way to wear black and not look "gothic", but I do have some advice for you. Most people think "goth" guys wear band t-shirts and skinny jeans. Just wear a plain black shirt and black pants if you want. Or follow my advice and ignore them. Whatever happens, don't let peer pressure get the best of you. :)

Wear black dress shoes and nice black clothing. That way you'll look suave instead of gothic. Try stores like French Connection, Armani Exchange, Kenneth Cole. Also, I know you like your black, but try some other colors. Maybe a darker shade of gray? Its a small change, but it adds something else to your wardrobe. All black is no fun, no matter how suave you are.

you can wear all black and not be gothic but if you wear a black shirt with like a death related slogan or something that is related to hating life that kinda gives an gothic impression. it really doesnt matter what people think, so if you like black stuff people have to deal with it.

well dont be bothered too much about what people say but if you wanna look less gothic try a fitted graphic black shirt -- you know that like says something or has some type of white or colored lettering or a picture -- and wear it with white shoes. also try a surfer type necklace and make sure your hair doesnt cover your eyes -- that screams emo. try the rocker type look it mite work. hope i helped :]]

As long as your black outfit is all in good taste and reflects what you like to wear, I don't think you should let others opinions reflect your fashion. If YOU have a problem with you style, try adding different colors into your wardrobe. White would look really crisp on a tan and navy is great if you like dark color. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing about you are.
