Oh do you mean our actions in Nicaragua and Haiti that basically ruined their countries? We owe Nicaragua $17 billion, because of terrorists actions against them.

The U.S. governments topples democratic governments in weak countries that can't fight back. Then they establish puppet governments often with a cruel dictator and the U.S. government and corporations are the direct cause of many people living in poverty.

The U.S. has also created terrorists by training them or supporting them. The U.S. supported Saddam Hussein during his worst atrocities and only turned against him, because he invaded Kuwait.

Also, what the U.S. wants then the U.S. will get. The Chagos Island is a prime example. The islanders were forced from their homes in slave-like conditions on ships and deported to an other island where many of them are living in poverty. The islanders just lived basic lives. They didn't have money to buy cars, but they produced their own food and they were happy. They are suffering now, because the U.S. wanted their island to be a military base. Doesn't the U.S. have already 130 bases around the world?

The U.S. is the source of terror for many people particularly in South America and the Middle East.

However, 9/11 was not justified, because the killing of innocent people is NEVER justified even during times of war.

1) Our foreign policy is the most benevolent of any major power in world history.
2) NOTHING could justify the 9/11 attacks.

What would be that appalling foreign policy you are talking about. Could it be all those billions in foreign aid we spread around the world? Could you give a few examples.

Such barbarism can never be justified. The US has never had an "appalling" foreign policy. Yours sounds like white liberal guilt.

No.

Understanding the poor policy may help us understand why it happened but NOTHING the US has done justifies that action.

No. No matter what Bin Laden's excuse was, 3000 innocent people did not deserve to die on 9/11.

that depends...

if Bin Laden is the master mind then yes it was done to force the US to leave the middle east and stop supporting Israel.

if our government did it then it had to do with the project of new American century.
