I'm not sure what they were trying to prove, but I found the words of a top police officer interesting. Heard him on BBC Sheffield radio today and a rough quote was ... There is a certain arrogance among these politicians that they think its ok to admit publicly that they have broken the law of the land but now they are politicians it's all in the past and doesn't matter now. It would be interesting to see if a case could still be brought against them just for having admitted it, but then they are untouchable aren't they?.....
That's as close as I can remember it, but I think that bloke has his head screwed on!

they couldn't be police officers in just about anywhere in America if they did anything more than "experiment once or twice". I smoked a little weed in Amsterdam, well, 10 or 20 times and it was legal but no one in Texas would hire me as a cop. And I have been through a police academy and i'm licensed in the State of Texas.

Fine, students have done it for decades. It's unreasonable to believe that all our politicians are squeaky clean because I doubt that any MP ever said, "Sorry, can't smoke it, I'm trying to be an MP"

What MP's did in the private younger years is irrelevant. As long as they're not smoking it now, then I see no problem.

No wonder the doors still open and the country flooded with immigrants - all the politicians have brain damage and making very bad judgements in detriment to the British people.

Lol, I'd much prefer them to pass spliffs in the Commons than the scary, freedom encroaching acts that have been passed recently! =)

we are not our brothers keepers, nor are we judge and jury.

so someone smoked a spliff 25 years ago... and? if youre worried screen them...

if not shut up and let them get on with running the country...

Let he who has the least sin, cast first stone. What a bunch of horse pucky. The damn news media is at it again trying to make news instead of reporting it. Who cares? This stuff is a non-story.

I think it's party of normal growing pains/experimentation. I'd rather have a politician who has made mistakes and learned from one than someone who is so perfect that they are totally disconnected from the people.

I'm not one to condemn any of them. Let's face it, this all happened years ago; we all do things, as youngsters, we often prefer to forget about. Personally, I never smoked pot or even a ciggy ... but I've done plenty of other naughty things!
