Yes...they definitely can be pretty. 250 isn't THAT heavy. I don't weight that much but I'm what you consider a bigger girl. Playing sport all my life which leads to having a muscular body and also having natural curves is what puts me at my weight today. And when i tell people what i weight they are surprised because they think that i weigh less than i am. There are many women out there who are absolutely beautiful but are more on the heavier side. Have you not seen Plus size models? They're gorgeous, definitely not stick thin, but they look HEALTHY, not starving. Then personality comes into play. If you have a beautiful personality or an ugly one, that definitely affects how people look at a person. Yes in some ways society could immediately label her "ugly" if they didn't see her and only knew her weight. But society is also getting better when it comes to “overweight” women, hence why there is plus size models like I said before. Depends on what someone finds pretty also. If someone doesn’t find me pretty…hey…doesn’t bother me, I’m just not their type then. Confidence is always key too and how a woman carries herself.

It depends on the person looking at her. My aunt weights about 400lbs and to her husband, she's beauty personified. I think she's beautiful, too :) I don't know how much is based on aesthetics and how much is based on what I know of her charming, witting and caring personality.

As for what society thinks, I suppose a 250 lbs woman could be considered pretty depending on her height and how she carries the weight. I won't go into how much I weigh, but I'm not considered waifishly skinny. On the other hand, I'm not obese. (I'm what they call "pleasingly plump" and "voluptuous." Back in the 1930s, movie stars worked very hard to achieve the type of figure I have.) When I tell people how much I weigh, they are shocked because everyone thinks I should be 40 lbs lighter than what I am. Any weight I put on is equally distributed throughout my body. So, it's entirely possible that a woman could be 6' tall, weigh 250 lbs and still be considered "pretty" by societal standards.

Personally, though, I think that a person's beauty should be judged by how that person acts and contributes to society. I've seen many ugly people that had the perfect height, perfect weight, perfect skin, perfect hair, etc. And I've seen many beautiful people that were too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat, had acne, were bald/going bald, etc. Then again, I've always been an odd one:)

I'm sure if the person looked good even with 250+ pounds then society would ignore the 250+

Yes, indeed, she can be 250+ and beautiful, but yes, society will label her ugly because of her weight.

Why of course you can still be not only pretty but beautiful. Beautiful counts for whats in the inside, that is what make someone pretty. You can be the person with the slamming body and beautiful face but if what in the inside is ugly you will appear ugly. Keep on smiling!!!!!!!!!!!

Real beauty comes from within. Unfortunately shallow people are driven by physical appearance. And the overwhelming percentage of our population is very shallow.

I personally would rather marry a pretty girl with a weight issue than a gorgeous woman with no inner beauty.

Honestly any woman that weighs more than the World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion would be seen as fat, gross and probably ugly.

Kirstie Alley said herself that until she lost weight she wasn't going to have sex with any man because she didn't find herself attractive.

There is NOTHING thin about Kirstie Alley and she's one of the best looking women that I've ever seen!

As far as the other comments about Queen Latifah and Monique, I don't think they are attractive, but even if they were both a size 2, they STILL wouldn't be attractive to me.

If you have a pretty face like Kirstie, you can carry extra weight and still be pretty.

these people are lying...she would be considered ugly, especially in american culture!

there were studies done on attractiveness, where men where asked what they found attractive and what was not attractive.

over 90% of the men said they would rather date a non-overweight drug addict over an overweight normal woman, even if the overweight woman had a very pretty face...

Of course. I'm not sure what Queen Latifah weighs, but she is hefty - and beautiful (actually, John Travolta looks pretty good as the big, voluptuous Edna Turnblad in Hairspray).
