Well, just because nothing happens to most people who listen to their iPod during a storm, doesn't mean it's absolutely safe to do so. Indeed, it's unlikely that a lightning strikes the iPod, but still it certainly creates magnetic field around it (as well as cell phones and other techies) that may attract lightning. I turn off my cellphone if there's a storm and I'm outside, just in case. Electricity, magnetism, you never know what may happen. And yes, the previous user was right - if once lightning hits, the wires of the player become excellent conductors.

CNN recently did a short thing on mp3 players in thunderstorms. Although it is highly unlikely to get struck by lightning even while wearing the mp3 player, the damage done can be more severe. The wire in the headphones will act as a conductor, the extreme voltage running through the wire will burn your skin and then can cause ear damage as the lighting discharges.

After what happened to the one individual in Canada, I would think twice before you try to listen to your Ipod during any thunderstorm, his got fried and he was injured.

No. If you did get struck by lightning, because of the head phone cord, it would send like a million watts of electricity through your brain. And depending on where you were holding your iPod, it could send that same million watts through your heart. If either of those happened, you would probably be instantly killed.

i do no longer think of so. till you're utilising your pc outdoors. the pc would close down, depending on the place the electrical powered energy strikes. yet different than that, headphone jacks are not designed to deliver electric powered currents on your headphones.
