If the battle has nothing to do with me then I stay out of it. Why muddle it up any worse that it is.

I wouldn't rush to people's defense...unless it's something physical harm...but at also depends who I am with. If it's with my younger sisters, then No...I want to protect my sisters first or any other young family member I have with me...

However...If it's a school fight...like two girls fighting each other calling names and then fighting...I said NO too...I think that violence is a good way to settle things if WORDS don't settle the problem. Why do you think violence is such a problem these days? But that is two COMPLETE strangers. And personaly, why can't they WAIT for school to end and fight and drag the teachers in and all? Attention hores...>.<

If it's my friend I know, then I will butt in and try to defend them and break up whatever it was. But ONLY if I see it as a resaonable thing...People tend to fight over stupid damn reasons and it drives me crazy! But all that is avoided or more likely avoided when you talk things out. But...If they still itch for a fist fight...I tell them join a gym or fight when I'm not around, cuz I'll be going in a panicing worry if they start a fight in front of me. I rather help nurse thier wounds that watch them get it...I'm more better at that personaly.

Hope that answers your question! <3

i was always the first one in to jump in between the bully and the nerdy kid at school. i was smaller than most everyone in my class most of the time (was a late bloomer, so to say), and i think that had a lot to do with it. i got picked on quite a bit before i started taking martial arts classes after school, lol, so that gave me the confidence to help people in that kind of situation. the compassion was already there.

on the other hand, if it's a battle of egos, i'll stay out of it. i'll just stand back and let them show the rest of us how stupid they are. but nothing gets me hot quicker than some defenseless person being exploited.

I stay out of other people's battles for two reasons. If I join in, I may make a bad situation worse and if I fight their battles, how can they grow in confidence and character?
Family spats, bullying, taking on a challenge, playing their games.

I don't rush, but in fact I do try to protect other people if I can and I think that the one that is in trouble is in the right and doing the right things, being oppressed by the powerful, being mistreated or misguided, or are in the weakest position at the time, because might come a time that I need other people to help to protect me is that selfish or what, they think I do it to be a hero, I think I do it out of selfish need.

I generally don't think anything internet is worth anyone defending from anyone else. It's all words on a screen supposedly typed there by strangers. Or maybe just simulated by Yahoo computers to draw traffic.

Out in the real world, I calls 'em as I sees 'um. No general rule applies, except keeping it narrow, swift and straight. And only involving physical threats.

rBattles can take many forms ...battles with poverty, hunger, self esteem,....I think it is necessary to defend those who can not defend themselves....Necessary to be politically active ,aware ,informed...necessary to be cautious,wise,observant....with two children when it is not on a physical level, and most interpersonal interaction of adults, when it is childish ,no one really needs anyone to rush to their defense... they can learn to work things out for themselves or not. If there is abuse involved there are a lot of mandated reporters out there and I am one so that I am legally obligated to involvement. Teachers,Policemen, counselors, medical and mental health field workers....not just in our work places but wherever we are. if a global perspective has been gained through travel or education or just plain being raised with that awareness...then there is a natural extension of this.

Once,I saw a women, obviously in distress. She was argueing with what I assumed was her boyfriend(I found out after that he wasn't)but,I interrupted and asked her if she was alright.Well, the jerk swung on me,I blocked it and punched him in the mouth. That was the end of that. She only lived a block away so I saw her home.I'm no hero, but,I can't stand it when people try to take advantage of someone they percieve as weaker.I'm old-fashioned that way,I guess.TL

I learned in a psychology seminar, that, when one attempts to intervene in other peoples' "BATTLES", the one that intervenes often becomes the victim because the combatants turn upon him/her for intervening. Since then, I've have not interfered in any battle, and by doing so, I have not become a victim of their issues.

It depends on the person being attacked. Are they helpless? Do they understand the circumstances as to why they are being attacked, do they need defending? I usually try avoid defending other people because they need to learn. One of the most important things you need to do in life is be able to defend yourself. Not just from "attackers" but your dreams and ideas/opinions. I hope this helps. !
