My guppie as this dark stuff by the end of her tail. But looking at her other babys they have it too. I know that she was in with a male about a month ago. But he was only 3 or 4 months old and I am not sure if he got to her or not. I noticed she is fat. But she has all of the color in her tail if that means anything. If someone could answer this ASAP I would really appriceate it. We are going on vacation for a week and there is a filter in with the female. If she is pregnant and she gives birth, the filter or my fish will surely get the babys. What should I do? I will try to get pics if I can. My computer at home is down.

Personally I don't put my pregnant females into a breeder anymore, because out of experience the fry grows much faster in the main tank
Just get real plants for the babies to hide, and at least some of them will always servive
The only thing I would also get is a timer if you don't have one yet, that the light turns on and of automatically
You're suppose to leave it on for 10-12 hours during the day and turn it off for 12-14 hours during the night

Bettas can breed already when they are only about 2-3 months old
And the females store the sperm up to 6 months, that means babies about every 28 days

Hope that helps
Good luck

female livebearers store sperm so they can can keep dropping babies even without a male, for a few spawns.

Try looking into a sponge filter. This way the babies will live and the mother will get some filteration.

The best thing to do is on vaction, leave the mother in a small breeding tank with live plants and a sponge filter. When you get back you might be surprised with young.
