Other than put on a big show and bring in beds so they can sleep on the job, other than the lowest approval rating in history, other than trying to let all the law breaking wet backs go free, what have they done? Their whole motive is to rase all the heck they can. It has been said that even bad attention is better than no attention at all.

They suck. But, in fairness, I think voters are pissed at the whole gov't in general. Bush has low ratings too (said with a bitter taste b/c I like Bush.) The only reason the Democrats are in control is because the people wanted change from a do-nothing republican congress and were extremely disappointed when they got a do-even-less democrat congress. People want the govt to work with each other, not be so divided along party lines. (Like post 9-11 when their numbers were high... hmm....) Oh and one more thing: the immigration issue died because of divisions amongst bold and weak politicians, not (for once) democrat and republican. The bold ones supported doing something to stop the chaos, the weak ones opposed in fear of losing the hispanic vote.

Do they even teach government and civics classes anymore?

It's amazing. When the Republicans were in power, they would complain about how the Democrats would obstruct them and block legislation. Now the Democrats say the same thing about Republicans. Well, guess what people...That's how it was set up! That's the system! You need to build consensus to get stuff done and if you aren't going to even try then stuff WILL NOT GET DONE!

I tell you, if Tip O'Niell (liberal democrat) and Reagan (conservative republican) could come back from the dead, they would pimp slap everyone from the Whitehouse to Capitol Hill until they learned to act right.

Those are good men and women trying to do what they think is right for America. You may (we both may) disagree with some of what they do, but until they are proved in a court of law to be unworthy of it, I intend to treat them with respect, just as I did Former President Clinton and republican dominated Congress, and just as I do President Bush and a democratic dominated Congress.

The issues are always worth being brought up. Heck, as a democrat, I strongly support your right to protest, respectfully. But I also request that you leave political bigotry out of it.

Keep speaking up, regardless of what you do.

Free speech makes us stronger.

I'd like to see more action as well, but I wish they'd stop wasting the President's time.

Well, in their first 100 hours, they accomplished a lot more than the Republicans.
>They enacted recommendations of the 9/11 commission
>They enacted a higher minimum wage
>They pushed for stem cell research
>They put through legislation to negotiate the cost of prescription drugs to Medicare patients
>They passed legislation calling for lower interest rates for student loans.
>They passed legislation to roll back tax breaks and subsidies on oil companies.
Here it is on the NY Times' site: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/washington/10...

There are investigations into the firing of US Attorneys.
There is so many legislations that they are working on, just because they lost one big battle, doesn't mean they have lost the 'war.' You need to have more patience, and become more active, and contact your legislators, if you would like to see what they do.

Democrats do not control congress. Congress need a 2/3 vote for bills and such. There are, if im right about 50 or 51 democrats in office. That is not controlling congress.
And your question is highly offensive. Calling Mexicans/others, "wetbacks"
Your question is not vaild and untrue.

I know, the Republicans keep blocking anything from actually making to the floor for a vote.

You're right, congress is not doing a thing.

They haven't done nothing. They've done all they can, which is get enough votes to stop this damned war to send it to Bush's desk, but not enough to override his damned veto; and hold hearings into Bush Administration corruption, which are ongoing; therefore, it's not "do-nothing." Just because you right-wing maniacs don't like what they do doesn't make it do-nothing.

If you paid attention, whatever they tried to pass was vetoed by bush or the Congressional republican minority showed its immaturity by FILIBUSTER.

I don't remember Democrats doing that when the republicans controlled Congress. They acted like adults.

Both parties have proved that they care more about their parties than the will of those they represent.
