I'm afraid to say, but despite having been a keen member of the YOC in my younger days, I have found that most women find it pretty boring! Us blokes like a hobby that is chilled out etc and so do women, but when us blokes start looking at (avian) birds and jotting down notes etc it gets a bit tedious. My partner and I enjoy good walks in the countryside but I could tell very quickly that listening to, and spotting every bird around us became a boring, repetitve thing to do. Tone down your hobby and look at the plants and animals too. Even the general scenery! or talk about something else entirely!
Then occasionally, when you hear a squawk, you can just pop into the conversation that its a magpie. That way you can slowly get her more interested without her thinking your whole world is full of feathers!

I am a very keen twitcher, I love birds and all wildlife. Although, I do agree with you that most women are not very keen on the observation of birds, or any wildlife for that matter. Most women are (sadly) obsessed with clothes, make-up and men. And the majority of them are scared of spiders or 'flying things'.

Apparently this is the wrong board to get negative answers. All the ladies hanging out in Zoology know that birds are where it's at.

Try posting this in "Fashion" or some other category and see how it goes over. :)

I'm not adverse to you watching feathered birds, as long as you don't hurt them.

But I am not going to wear feathers.
