Please don't freak out because of something a friend told you. Sometimes young people just skip periods now and again. But if you are concerned, it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor. He/she is best qualified to figure out if there is a problem and help you stop worrying.

Yes, my wife has had cysts on her ovaries for years. Whether or not you're having (or had) sex doesn't matter. They can form anyway. Best thing is to just go see the doctor. If they go untreated, they can cause major damage.

It is possible to have an ovarian cyst and not be sexually active. They can be detected by a gynecologist without an ultrasound. My daughter was 14 when she had one rupture and she wasn't sexually active and did not have to have an ultrasound. I have had many ovarian cysts in the last 15 years.

Ovarian cysts are fairly common and can be confirmed with a pelvic ultrasound evam.
Cyst formation can be due to several factors but is NOT due to sexual contact.
Symptoms can be pelvic pain, amenorrhea (not menstrating), and palpable mass.
Amenorrhea can be due to several causes and without knowing anything else about you my recommendation is to see a gynecologist to rule it out.
