pplz would most likely say south african though.
The thing is is that they are not from africa (there ancestors arent anyways. Yes i know all life originated in africa but you know what i mean.), they are from europe. Also, african americans can be someone from the caribean too, just as long as they are black. Often like in medicine for example, people of different places are critical because different illnesses are more common in certain kinds of people. So although they are african, they musnt serious consider themselves african american like on their passports and other important things becasue african american is just a politically correct way to say black.
But techniqally, you are right.

Yes...I don't believe that we should categorize into nationalities because of skin color. If you are black and were born and raised here you should be proud to be an American. I only know one true African American. And also, not all blacks are from Africa...some are from Jamaica, etc. and find it offensive to call them African American.
