It's already solved for y.

For x, it is:

x = (y-b)/m

Hi.
There is something missing in your question. This is the point slope form. m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Let´s say you get this equation : y = 2x-2 then you know that the slope is 2, the y-intercept is -2. If you get this equation: 2y-2x= 4 then you solve for y; y = x + 2 . The slope is 1 and y-intercepts is 2.
You can get very good help here on Yahoo answers (and who ever got the idea to this should get the Nobel price) but you have to give enough information and ask specific questions so people can help you.
Good luck and I hope I have been able to help you.

y = mx+b is the equation of a line in slope-intercept format
the m gives the slope and the b is the y-intercept (what y is when x is 0)

If you transform an equation into y=mx+b format, you have those answers. The equation itself is not something to solve; it's part of the solution.

what's your question? that formula is the expression of a line. You need a value for x to get y, or vice-versa.

x values --horizontal axis
y values --vertical axis
m=slope of line (how steep is your line, ie if m=zero, then y=b, forever, regardless of x value.
When x equals zero, y=b and that will be where the line intersects with the y-axis.

Plug in a number for m and x and b and see how it gives you a number for y. Then change only the b, or only the m, or only the x and see how it changes the y.

Good luck!

y=mx+b is the slope-intercept form. m = slope and b = y-intercept. When the letters are replaced with a number, you can graph it or solve it.

It depends what letter you are trying to solve for. With what you've given I know that y=mx+b.
And y-b=mx.
And m=(y-b)/x
And x=(y-b)/m
And b= -(mx - y)

Or at least I think that's right!

you mean how to solve y=mx+b?

we need numbers with math. there's no alphabet in math. numbers please!
