Sounds to me like you have a break in one of the pipes leading water from the city to your house, which creates lots of water where you don't want it & lack of pressure. Have a plumber come out & take a look at your feed pipe with a scope, beginning at one of the vent openings on your roof. If he finds a break or clog, have him spray paint the area on the ground where he thinks it's coming from. DON'T pay him to dig & fix with his machine. Way overpriced! Get a couple of strong guys on a weekend, plenty of cold beer, shovels, etc. & have a digging party. You can then fix the problem yourself by way of replacing part of the pvc pipe. Consult your local DIY store for help. Tree roots are usually the problem. Best of luck..

Sounds like loads of fun.
In the town close to where I live there is a drainage problem with the old homes. There were to many homes tied into the storm sewer and storm tapped into the sanitary sewer for lack of having an inspector that had a clue. So when it does rain a lot they have the same trouble as you do.

The answer's that were before me I think 2 are right in what there thinking is. Really need to know if it's city or septic or do you have a lift station in your basement.

Like the one person said if you have that much rain then the ground is saturated so there is no where for you leach field to drain. If you do have a septic though very seldom see the setting right to have your sewer comming under your footer to get water in the basement.

Or you could have a lateral sewer line to the city line plugged or clasped. If it in the city there might be what is called a inspection tee. This is probably a 4 inch size pipe with a cap on it that goes straight down to you sewer. If you have one and there is no water the problem is yours call a plumber to clean your sewer. If you see water or sewage then it's the cities problem and they should have to take care of it.

Good luck

If your in the country, then you have a septic tank, it sounds like it's full. In this case call a septic tank man to pump it out, fast.
If your in the city with sewers then you have a plugged line somewhere, call "Rooter-roter" have them auger your line out. Then you should see if you have a sump pump, this should work so the basement is dry.
The basement is part of the house and must be maintained also.
Your sump pump pumps the water in the basement out to the sewer line or the septic tank, make sure this works now.

drain is clogged or storm drains are full.

rent a sump pump to get the water out of the house so you can start cleaning to prevent mold growth.

If you have a septic tank it is probably full. It cant drain out if the ground is saturated, unless its aerobic.

It sounds like your main sewer line is plugged up. I would call roto rooter or someone to snake out your main. Good Luck!!
