Yes, not only can he cancel the presidential election in case of a national emergency, but he can also suspend congress and give power to DHS.

P.S. Technically, we have been in a state of national emergency since 9/11. This means they may already be using the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. Also stated in the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, they do not have to notify congress or anyone if they activate the directive. The directive is deactivated when the president feels there is no longer a state of national emergency, which means he could stay in office for as long as he wants.

Its astonishing how human beings have not got a clue on the left. Bush would not want finished administration of the frigging government, are you able to no longer examine or is the comprehension an issue. he's in simple terms giving a directive to have a back up plan in place in case of a nationwide catastrophic journey. All good business enterprise do the comparable, the government could be no distinctive.

Depends the voting favoring which candidates... I think they could go along with their plan if any of the CFR members would got a chance to get elected and continue the work. But from all the precautions he has taken to get his patriot act into life, and the CDC Anthrax thing, I am pretty sure that he count on using it somehow to acertain its power over the US... Also, with the recent AL-Quaeda warning and ''signs'' feeled by Chertoff, I guess he will not wait too long before enabling this act, just not to look too much close to the election to look suspicious... So all in all, they are over 50% chance that he will definitly do something with his patriot act, but wether or not he will cancel the election or postpone it, its another matter...

We shall see soon, unfortunately!!

Do you think liberals will ever tire of asking moronic questions about Bush. Whatever will they do after the next election when he is no longer in office.

The Bush Admin. has already done things that are unthinkable, so canceling or postponing an election really isn't a reach.

No, they do not have the political capital to back them. Neither Republicans nor Democrats would accept that.

Ummmmmmm.

No. Not becase I don't think they're not power-hungry enough to do something like that. But I don't think hey're stupide enough to try.

The hast person to try something like that was King GeorgeIII of England.

He has the power, thanks to Richard Nixon, so don't be surprised. Just watch the threat level on the color wheel of terror go up as we approach election time.
