I recently ran across a large amount of rope (I'd say about 1/8" thick) and looking to make some cool stuff with it - notably a hanging planter (a series of knots to hold a clay pot, etc.) or a bowl. Anybody know any good sites or resources that i can look through to find rope crafts?

The first site will show you how to do the knots. The second site will teach you how to make a simple plant hanger. I used to do this craft many years ago. I forgot how much fun it was.

One thing to make that would not only be useful but Eco Friendly would be re-useable grocery bags. You can try Macrame which is a knot tying craft or you can use Crochet, which is another type of fiber craft using a hook.

You can find instructions for a Macrame bag here:
http://www.macramelovers.com/macramebags.html

Then if you want to pick up a crochet hook and give that method a try check out this website:
http://www.crochet.org/
Click on Resources you'll find a number of lessons and free patterns.

If you really get into it and run out of rope you can recycle plastic grocery bags into re-usable bags as well.

Ok-- I know these don't take alot of rope to make but they are easy and quick! And they make nice decorations on your Christmas packages. (yes- it'll ber here sooner than you think!) It's called a 'love knot'... I'm sure there is some website with a picture. Hot glue differnent decorations on it according to who you are giving it to or the season. Great to give to TEachers, bus drivers, etc. You can even put magnets on them to put on the fridge! Heck-- I want one! LOL

I saw something on hgtv the other day where they covered the bottom of a lamp. Just coiling it around the base, glue as you go. It looked really neat.
